Eric: Mmmm... version 1.0... I'm an idiot...

There's nothing quite like that New Mac smell, you know? The crisp smell of virgin aluminum, the frighteningly bright display. The iSight camera built into the enclosure....

Needless to say, I'm a touch preoccupied. More when I've transferred my life and seen what's broken.

Oh yeah, new computers. A new Toy. A new Life. A new Love.

New computers, mhm, gotta love them. *purr*

Congrats on the new hardware!

you've had more than your fair share of new mac smell, recently.
I consider you both blessed and cursed.

People!

Stop getting Macs! You're tempting me something awful, and I have to pay for a year's worth of school at Oxford next year!

Meaning I don't have the money to buy a new computer of the Apple persuasion! Cut it out! I mean it!

Exclamation point!

Boys get all the rev.A hotness.

So he has a MacBook, then?

Bastard!

Comment from: Eric Burns [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 10, 2006 2:14 PM

The last "new mac" was an old Aluminum Powerbook G4 loaner to replace my beloved fried-hard-drive Powerbook.

This new mac, on the other hand, is an actual new mac. I and one other guy here get to beta test them in real world testing, so that when the faculty get them this summer, we know what to expect.

What's that smell?

It's Macintosh!

A new iMac smell is great, and yet, when it asks to take your picture, it gets little creepy. A little too welcome to the future. But in a good way.

Comment from: Pseudowolf [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 10, 2006 3:11 PM

Meh, Macintosh. They give me the creeps, personally.

You realize that if the machines take over, it'll be thanks to Apple don't you?

Comment from: Wednesday White [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 10, 2006 3:14 PM

So, when are the machines taking over?

Comment from: Eric Burns [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 10, 2006 3:44 PM

Oh, holy crap this is a nice display.

Comment from: 32_footsteps [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 10, 2006 3:56 PM

Fortunately, I think the machines aren't going to take over any time soon. In my house alone, the Gamecube and the Playstation 2 mount furious campaigns against each other, with the Gamecube dealing with internal strife from the Game Boy Advance and the DS. Meanwhile, there's an uneasy truce between the PC and the stove, which in turn represents the ice cream maker and the food processor. However, the television, suddenly armed with a new stereo system as a major ally, is the sleeping giant that all are a bit afraid of.

So long as I can play each group's inherent jealousies off of each other, I should be able to avoid their rule.

But that's the problem with Apple products. They all work with each other so well. And they are becoming more prevalent. IPods are showing up everywhere, and it seems more and more people are getting MacBooks and whathaveyou. The Terminators should've had an Apple logo etched on their shiny metal skulls. And should've been named iKillYou.

In my house, the 360 and the iMac fight it out. And as who lookds prettier in all new white plastic, I would have to say the iMac is winning only due to it's 20 inch flat screen display. How big is your display, Eric?

Comment from: Eric Burns [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 10, 2006 4:34 PM

I have a MacBook, so it's 15". And it's a slightly weird 15", at that. Longer and shorter than the Powerbook 15". I'm going to be somewhat curious to see if the thing fits in my bag.

Then I suppose it's a good thing that none of my home electronics are made by Apple, then.

No, that means the robot horde will see you as a potential enemy, and destroy you and distill your chemicals down to be used in their industrial processes. Your hair will be used in a smoker to prepare human scented potpourri candles, which they prefer.

Does the "version 1.0... I'm an idiot" part refer to the risk of exploding batteries or something?

Right.

Of course, owners of Mac products will be forced to work for "Friend Computer, Our Beloved CyberLord" as an expendable workforce, doing basic maintenance and such. That photo the Mac takes of you? It's for your future iWorkBadge. Just sayin'.

Sorry, Apple can't do that. Thanks to Pokemon, Nintendo has first dibs on my genetic material.

Comment from: Wednesday White [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 10, 2006 8:41 PM

Bo: "1.0" (rev. A, really -- Eric? Dude) Apple products have a history of hardware glitches. They're usually minor.

Comment from: Wednesday White [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 10, 2006 8:42 PM

(Okay, not *always* minor. Consider the Cube.)

Comment from: Plaid Phantom [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 11, 2006 12:59 AM

You fools! Don't you realize that the robot invasion is merely a distraction!? It's all a plot to remove attention away from the evil Steve Jobs!

That would explain why the cyclons finally captured the whole Battlestar Galatica fleet tonight. Next season, watch as the Cyclons take a look at their human captives and go, "Okay, we've caught them. Now what?"

Comment from: Ray Radlein [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 11, 2006 3:43 AM

"Okay, we've caught them. Now what?"

Toss 'em back. They're under the weight limit.

Comment from: O.M. [TypeKey Profile Page] posted at March 11, 2006 6:17 AM

....thank you for making me unable to watch that scene with a straight face EVER AGAIN.

Of course, I'm waiting for them to reveal that the Cylons even went so far as to create ground vehicles under the acronym Kinetic Isolinear Troop Transports
