I *like* that you're able to write in volumes. I like it that you inspire others to babble.. er..... write in volume as well, though we seldom to match up with the caliber of the initial snark. Happy 4's.

4 is, by the way, my favorite number, for a TOTALLY GEEKY reason: it's the only word in the English language for whom its letters are its number. When I was a girl, I took the obsession with four to liking things that have four letters out of some harmonic convergence thing. I would walk starting with my left foot, etc. (Left = 4 letters, Right = 5, dig?). I know, it's sad, I was a little bookish thing who also did not use contractions for a couple of years - thankfully not at the same time as my obsession with four. And yet, I'm not obsessive-compulsive. Just weird. eheh (coughs)

You have only scratched the surface of my 'lead footed' blunder.
Imagine my amusement at a simple, silly post on a number.
Powered by some unknown desire to continue in fashion with a timely and hopefully amusing comment, my hands acting on behalf of "the brain" wanting to create a visual account of my internal machinations.
Like the impending footfalls of ruin my mouse clicked on the button of submittance coined 'Post',
I began to relish the prospect of seeing my humour chiseled into the wall of this ethereal domain. At once I was greeted by a blank page, the load bar on my browser seemingly stuck in a neverending battle. It tried to progress, each outgoing slice of data hurled through the gates of my simulated empire out into the wild web only to be summarily destroyed on exit.

I should of heeded my insticts. Fate did not want me to post, but in my arrogance I failed to listen and repeated my actions. Thwarted twice! But I am no mere man, I was not willing to give up!
I hit the WebSnark toolbar favourite, endeavouring to start from the beginning, my eyes scanned the page for the comment link. What was this ? Two Comments ? I was crushed, no longer could I use my witty reply! After all I needed my post to be post number 4,445!

I clicked view to see what my vision of granduer had been replaced with.

And it hit me.

Electrons aligned themselves according to thier pre-ordained patterns, creating a visage that would haunt me for hours to come.
I had breached the boundaries, broken the walls of Internet social conduct.

I was a double poster.

The irony in your story is like something out of Henry James. The Jolly Corner has nothing on The Double Poster. Just compare merely seeing the disfigured ghost of your own self had you stayed in New York and made millions to the typing of 4,441 in the stead of 4,445. The horror, the dashed hopes, the tragic ineptitude, it overwhelms.

Fun fact:

The number four is considered unlucky in Japan, because the character for four can be read as "shi", which is also a reading of the character for death. 4444, which is four fours, is extra unlucky.

Wait. So, my lifetime affinity with the number "4" is in fact an unlucky affinity with the Number of Death?

Somehow that's kinda cool and distinctive and yet terribly terribly creepy all at once.
